Open 361 Days a Year: Admissions 10:00am – 3:30pm; park closes at 4:30pm
Due to significant flooding and impassable roads in our region from Tropical Storm Helene, the WNC Nature Center is temporarily CLOSED.
All of our animals are safe and accounted for, and there is minimal damage to the habitats. However, Swannanoa River Road and the main bridge to the Nature Center were washed away, and it will take time to reopen. We will undoubtedly need your support as we rebuild.
Donations can be made at www.wildwnc.org/donate.
Welcome to the Cubs & Kits Club program for Friends of the WNC Nature Center member children between the ages of 3 and 12! This program is free, but your membership must be current in order for your child to be a part of the program.
Children enrolled in the Cubs & Kits Club will receive the following benefits:
*Cubs and Kits Club buttons or gifts must be picked up in person at the WNC Nature Center Membership Office during the promotional period. Sorry, we can not mail kids club giveaways.
How does it work?
The Passport series will be divided into four seasons each year. Within each season, there will be six educational activities, two each month, that can either be completed at home or at the Nature Center. The activities will also be included in the Cubs & Kits monthly newsletter.
Each season, we will host a one-hour informal program with an educator at the Nature Center. The Save the Date will be included in the first month of each quarter’s newsletter and additional details will follow.
How do I receive a prize?
At the beginning of each season, you can pick up a bookmark at the WNC Nature Center in the Membership Office. You will receive a stamp on the bookmark indicating completion of an activity. (You can come to the office after completion of each activity or at the end of each season.) If you complete three out of the six activities, you will receive a small prize. The prize can be picked up at the Membership Office.
After you complete enough activities to fill one bookmark, you can pick up another bookmark for the next season’s activities. You can go back and complete activities from previous seasons, but you will not be able to receive a prize for previous seasons.
