Frequently asked questions

You can purchase your membership at any time on our website. Memberships may also be purchased daily in person at the Nature Center from 10:00 am to 3:30 pm or over the phone by calling (828)259-8092.

If you choose to purchase a membership on the day of your visit and have already purchased admission tickets, we will give you a guest pass for each adult included on the new membership. Just visit the Membership Office to start the process!

In an effort to go green, our membership cards are digital. To download your Digital Membership Card, go to the App Store or Play Store and download the eMembership Card app. Under Institutions, select Friends of the WNC Nature Center.  Click “Find my Membership Card,” then enter the phone number you used when you joined or renewed and your last name. Start using your card right away!

Please allow up to 48 hours after purchase for our system to process your membership.

Absolutely! But keep in mind that your added benefits will expire at the same time as your current membership.

No, all membership purchases are final and cannot be refunded, partially refunded, or transferred.

Yes! Just show your photo ID at the Nature Center Front Entrance to have your membership verified.

Your membership begins on the date of purchase and expires 12 or 24 months from the date of purchase, depending on whether you selected a 1-year or 2-year membership. When renewing early, 12 or 24 months will be added to your current expiration date.

You will receive two membership cards when you opt in to paper membership
cards.

Don’t worry! Your membership will be extended for another 12 months.

A photo ID is required to ensure you are a member of the WNC Nature Center. This prevents misuse of memberships.

No, the named member must be present for guests to enter.

Under our family membership, up to four children in your household will receive free admission to the Nature Center when you enter. 

Yes, but they must present the membership card for the member child’s family,
and they will be responsible for their own admission.

A family membership covers up to four dependent household children only. 

Any adults named on the membership, as well as children included in a family membership, can take advantage of membership benefits!

Yes, the WNC Nature Center is a member of the Association of Zoos & Aquariums (AZA) and the Association of Science – Technology Centers (ASTC).

Please contact the zoo, science center, or museum you are planning to visit for prices before you visit as their policies or participation may change without notice. While reciprocal partners will honor the named members and a certain number of dependent children, they are not required to honor the extra benefits of your WNC Nature Center membership.

Reciprocal partners do not share databases, so please remember to take your
membership card and photo IDs.
