Due to significant flooding and impassable roads in our region from Tropical Storm Helene, the WNC Nature Center is temporarily CLOSED.

All of our animals are safe and accounted for, and there is minimal damage to the habitats. However, Swannanoa River Road and the main bridge to the Nature Center were washed away, and it will take time to reopen. We will undoubtedly need your support as we rebuild.

WILD: Salamanders-A workshop for educators!

The Nature Center will be hosting an educator training course run by the NC Wildlife Resources Commission! 

World Ocean Day Celebration

On World Ocean Day, Nature Center staff and volunteers will be making a splash in the Swannanoa River by hosting a river clean up in the morning with community partner RiverLink.
The WNC Nature Center will also be hosting a BioBlitz that afternoon by the river for the whole family to enjoy!
